Our Story
In the late 1990s, a group of new Alpha members eager to support their chapter sought donations from their respective companies to bolster the scholarship program. However, they faced a hurdle: corporate donations could only be directed to 501c(3) non-profits, not directly to the fraternity. Potential donors were keen on securing tax benefits. Mr. Vernon Freeman, recognizing the need for a strategic approach, stepped up to the challenge. Leveraging his position on the board of a non-profit organization, he spearheaded the establishment of the ZBL Foundation (ZBLF). This innovative move opened a plethora of donation opportunities for the ZBL Alumni chapter and allowed prospective donors to enjoy tax credit.
Through Mr. Freeman's leadership and foresight, the chapter's ability to secure funding for its scholarship program expanded significantly, ensuring that deserving individuals could pursue their educational aspirations with financial support.
